(26) As-Shu'araa: The Poets

سورة الشعراء

فَلَمَّا تَرَاءى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَى إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
61. So when the two gatherings descried (each other), said did the companions of Moses, "Assuredly we will surely be in proximity."

قَالَ كَلَّا إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
62. He said, "Nay! Assuredly with me is my Lord, He will guide me."

فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ
63. So then We inspired Moses thus: "Strike with your stick, the sea." So it cleaved, thus each partition was like a grand alp.

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ
64. And We made close thereto the others.

وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَى وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
65. And We rescued Moses and whoever was with him, all together.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ
66. Then We drowned the others.

إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
67. Assuredly in that is a sign, and not were the abundance of them faithful.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
68. And assuredly your Lord is surely He, The Esteemed, The Most Merciful.

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
69. And recite upon them the news of Abraham.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
70. For, he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ
71. They said, "We worship icons, thus we continue unto them huddling."

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
72. He said, "Do they hear you when you call?"

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
73. "Or do they benefit you or harm?"

قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
74. They said, "Rather, we found our fathers thus doing."

قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
75. He said, "Do you then see what you were ever worshipping?"

أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ
76. "You and your fathers of old."

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
77. "So, assuredly they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds."

الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
78. "The One who created me then He guides me."

وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ
79. "And the One, He who feeds me and hydrates me."

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
80. "And when I sicken, then He cures me."
