(26) As-Shu'araa: The Poets

سورة الشعراء

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
102. "So if for us were another bout, thus we would be from the faithful."

إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
103. Assuredly in that is a sign, and not were the abundance of them faithful.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
104. And assuredly your Lord is surely He, The Esteemed, The Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
105. Belied did the people of Noah, the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
106. For, said to them did their brother Noah, "Do you venerate not?"

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
107. "Assuredly I am unto you a trustworthy messenger."

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
108. "So venerate Allah, and obey me."

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
109. "And I ask you not for it any reward, indeed my reward is but upon the Lord of the worlds."

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
110. "So venerate Allah, and obey me."

قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ
111. They said, "Us, have faith for you while followed you have the most despised."

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
112. He said, "And what is my knowledge in what they were ever doing?"

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّي لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
113. "Indeed, their account is but upon my Lord, if you are aware."

وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
114. "And not am I to expel the faithful."

إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
115. "Indeed, I am but a manifest warner."

قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ
116. They said, "Surely if you cease not, O Noah, you will surely be from the pelted."

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ
117. He said, "My Lord, assuredly my people belied me."

فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِي مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
118. "So ingress between me and them an ingression, and rescue me and whoever is with me from the faithful."

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
119. So We rescued him, and whoever was with him, in the laden watercraft.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ
120. Then We drowned, afterwards, those remaining.
